Mariana Becker was born and raised in Puebla, Mexico.
In 2002, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Textile Design at University Iberoamericana. Mariana’s passion for photography began during her college years, as her experience and recognition grew so did her pleasure in the Art form.
In 2003, she seized the opportunity to move to New York City.
Here she honed her skills by apprenticing with photographers, freelancing at weddings, food events, taking headshots, and portraiture. At this time she realized she had an affinity for children photography.
In 2012, she completed her studies in Masters in Digital Photography at School of Visual Arts, where she was honored with the 2012 Thesis Grand.
Her project Chrysalis, was included in the group exhibition Un/Common Skin at the SVA Gallery in October of the same year. Selective photographs of Chrysalis granted her 2nd place at the APA Photo Contest NY 2012 and a space in the exhibition Personal Portraits at the PhotoPlace Gallery in Middlebury, Vermont.
In 2014, Mariana moved to Long Island with her three children. Who are her ongoing inspiration to keep learning and creating art, while at the same time exploring the market of her new home surroundings. Soon after that she was certified Special Needs Photographer. Since then, she has based her craft on Children, Families, and Pregnancy. She values the NOW, the present moment and the value of family. “My endless passion reflects visually as what speaks to my heart.
I love watching interactions with loved ones and I understand the importance of freezing the important moments in life, because time never stops and photographs stay forever”.
